Alan Scott, THE Green Lantern, is gay
Via the Huffington Post, writer James Robinson, discusses the genesis of the decision to make Alan Scott gay and the overall personality of the Earth 2 GL. Robinson is a huge proponent of LGBT rights, having written the first on-panel male-on-male kiss back in 1998 during his Starman run. Despite all the media attention that Alan is receiving Robinson pledges that his sexuality will be a facet of his character and not the entirety of who he is.
Robinson clearly has a lot of love for Alan Scott, so I have zero reservations about how he will handle the character or his sexuality. What I do hope to see though is a bump in sales for the title. It’s a good book, with fantastic writing and art, that deserves more eyes on it.
Earth-2 issue 2 is out next Wednesday
